In May 2024, Streamline Defense successfully conducted advanced Nearshore Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) training in support of special operators conducting sensitive maritime operations. This specialized training provided warfighters with critical environmental assessment skills necessary for success in complex and unpredictable coastal environments.

Bridging the Gap Between METOC & the Operator

Modern maritime missions require precision planning, and environmental conditions can be the difference between success and failure. Streamline’s training focuses on equipping special operators with the tools and knowledge to analyze, predict, and exploit nearshore conditions for mission advantage.

Operators trained in:

  • Nearshore METOC assessment techniques, including wave and current predictions
  • Environmental intelligence gathering to enhance operational planning
  • Practical surf zone exercises in challenging conditions to test infiltration and exfiltration methods
  • Mission-focused water movement strategies under different gear loads

By blending formal instruction, hands-on surf zone exercises, and pre-deployment environmental analysis, this program helps special operators refine their ability to adapt to real-world operational conditions.

A High-Stakes Training Environment

Nearshore environmental forecasting is complex, and even minor miscalculations can impact operational effectiveness. Streamline’s instructors provided real-time technical assistance, guiding operators through methods to:

  • Map and validate surf and current predictions using wave models, buoy data, and tidal analysis
  • Understand nearshore dynamics in any global littoral environment
  • Develop mission-specific environmental planning aids for operational teams

Operators participated in rigorous practical swims against and with currents, demonstrating the importance of environmental awareness in mission success.

Maximizing Operational Readiness

For mission planners and special operators, understanding how to read, predict, and adapt to nearshore environments is critical. Streamline’s METOC training ensures that warfighters can:

  • Exploit environmental conditions for stealth and survivability
  • Accurately predict surf zone conditions before deployment
  • Make data-driven tactical decisions based on environmental factors

A Continued Commitment to Mission Success

This training represents Streamline Defense’s ongoing commitment to supporting special operations forces through advanced intelligence, ISR, and operational training. By integrating technical expertise with practical execution, Streamline ensures that operators receive cutting-edge, mission-relevant training that directly translates to success in real-world operations.
